Fleet 8 Update: September 4, 2006
Waconia Wind & Wave Pays the Price
Boasting of the best winds over the last six years, Mother Nature responded with parking a high pressure cell over us. Wind direction steadied enough to get off three races Saturday in the late afternoon. Lighter winds would have been welcome with five new arrivals for the workshop fleet, but most of the time there wasn’t enough for them to even sense direction. Most of them tuned their skills on a shortened course and received coaching from the more experienced sailors. Probably the sole benefit of high pressure is that it provided excellent conditions for a shrimp boil on the shores of Lake Minnetonka.
Results: 1. Peter Hartwich 2. Dave Chizek 3. Larry Miller 4. Chris Diller 5. Arnie Cleveland 6. Deb Ukura 7. Priscilla Specht
Workshop Fleet: Allison Diller, Linda Key, Jeanne Hane, Rorah Van Dyke, Rutger Van Huber
Less than 4 Weeks to the 25th Crossing! We have mailed the Notice of Race. If you don’t receive the mailing, please update us with your physical mailing address so we can mail you the Official Program. For those interested in the Classic class, it is open to one-design Windsurfer and Mistral Superlight as well as any stock sailboard from pre-87′.
Anticipation is high and many have already booked lodging. Two resorts are already totally filled and the fishing remains good, so there may be competition for the rest. We have included a list of lodging and camping within 15 minutes of the Garrison race and social sites. Wilderness will be open for camping and we have reserved the front six campsites near the clubhouse. When you call, tell them you are taking one of the sites reserved for the windsurfers. Reserve quickly, we will release the reservation within a week.
